Planetwalk 2007 Gettysburg April 21
I landed at Baltimore International Airport on Saturday afternoon, the day before Earth Day and took the train to Washington.
My friend David Rhodes met me outside Union station as we arranged and we drove to the small airfield where he kept his single engine vintage Piper Arrow. Once in the air Gettysburg was 30 minutes away.
David had not only signed on to get me to Gettysburg where I had stopped walking last year, but he was also going to walk with me for 3 days. When we landed we were met by Bill Donohue the Backpacker journalist had been assigned to cover the walk.
The plan was to spend 11 day beginning on earth day walking to West Virginia. We checked in at the Gettysburg hotel. Planetwalk board member Alan Ray and his wife Pamela were there to meet us with Pamela's Sister and
brother-in-law.
