Dr. Francis will canoe 250 miles down the Porcupine River in Alaska with Jon Waterhouse, Assistant Director of the Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council.

Dr. Francis, Jim Simon, Jon Waterhouse & Bryan Maracle (the YRITWC lead scientist) will paddle 250 miles down the Porcupine River recording water chemical samples every 5 minutes. They will also meet with tribal elders and tribal council members along the way to discuss environmental stewardship, climate change, and to obtain information from the tribal members regarding their experiences with the environment.
